Spanish Dance, Flamenco  and SDS syllabus 

Robert started dancing at the age of 25 at the Tanya Bayona Poutiatine Academy in Salsa and Flamenco. He later added jazz, contemporary and tap under the tutelage of Emma Loftus. Robert took part in many productions and Festivals with the “Bayona - Poutiatine Academy” including The Gozo Arts Festival and several French Day Celebrations for the French Embassy.

He furthered his tuition in Flamenco with Rosanna Maya at Alegria Academy and later joined the Deborah McNamara School in 2003 and continued to study Spanish, Jazz, Contemporary, Classical Ballet.  Robert gained a Distinction for all his grade and vocational examinations in Spanish Dance including Advanced 2 ( level 5) and three Teaching diplomas IdB 1, IdB 2 and PdB. 

Robert is also a freelance dancer and has participated in several performances; Dance Power, Dance Fusion (Alegria), Spanish Dance Society Anniversary Performance in 2007 in Malta and in 2015 for the 50th in Valencia, Street Flamenco (2011), Colourtastic (Zigu Zajg 2011), Notte Bianca (2012) and Pasion (2013) with Inspiracion Flamenca, participated in several local schools’productions as a guest artist and also performed in local Spanish bars and restaurants. He also attended several Flamenco courses with foreign tutors such as Miguel Ángel Espino, Ángel Muñoz, Inmaculada Ortega, Alicia Márquez, Virginia Dominguez, Manolo Marin, Juan Polvillo, La Choni, Cristian Lozano, Francesca La Chica, Victoria Ramos, Sharon Saguy (Israel), Olga Pericet, José Manuel Buzón Ruiz, Domingo Ortega, Tamara López, Charo Espino Delgado, Rocĺo Coral, Nieves Casablanca, Victoria E.Betanzos and Farruquito. He has also participated in various shows, ballets and in the Malta song contest for Eurovision 2013. Robert was the recipient for the Spanish Dance Society International Teachers' Bursary award in 2011/12 and one of the first group being awarded with the Sharon Sapienza Foundation Bursary Award in 2017. He currently holds the SDS, DdP-Cat.C as well as being a qualified Instructor in “Advanced level in Exercise and Fitness” awarded by the University of Malta. He was also the Spanish Dance Society Former Organizer for Malta from 2010-2014 and taught Spanish dance in various local schools and a guest teacher with an Israeli touring company – IMSDC He was also the co-artistic director of Compañia Danza.
